    How Librisync helps

We make Librisync, so read this with that in mind. Every fact about Bubble below comes from Bubble's own website, help centre and store listing, opened on 17 October 2026. Where Bubble is more generous or does more, we say so.

Librisync is not affiliated with Bubble. This page helps readers compare workflows and choose the right tool for their personal library.

Your albums live in one app, the novels next to them live in your head, and you are not sure which tool fits the whole collection.

What Bubble does, according to its own pages

Bubble calls itself the mobile library for readers of BD, comics and manga. It is available on iPhone and Android, with a website alongside. Its store listing mentions barcode scanning and adding several albums at once by series. The free Basic plan includes a list of missing albums, a personalised release calendar with release notifications, basic statistics, sharing your collection by link and exporting it. Through Bubble you can also order albums online or reserve a copy at a partner bookshop and collect it there. According to its help centre, the catalogue currently concentrates on French-language editions, and the app page mentions more than 182,000 referenced editions. For a reader of French BD, that is a lot of focused work in one place.

The 500-album limit and Bubble Infinity

On 4 May 2026 Bubble announced that its free Basic plan would be limited to 500 albums from 4 June 2026. Collections that were already larger stay intact; only adding new albums is blocked above the limit, and export stays available to everyone. As of October 2026, Bubble Infinity costs €1.99 a month or €17.99 a year and removes the limit. It also adds edition details, a read and unread pile, loan tracking, signed copies with photos, advanced statistics and no ads. Infinity+ costs €2.49 a month or €24.99 a year and adds several separate collections, for example one per family member. Bubble offers a 30-day free trial, an offer it has extended until the end of 2026. To put it plainly: Bubble's free plan covers 500 albums; Librisync is free up to 100 books.

Librisync vs Bubble when BD and novels share a shelf

Plenty of shelves are not sorted by format. Blacksad leans against a Penguin paperback, a run of Fullmetal Alchemist stands next to a cookbook. Librisync starts from that shelf. You photograph it, and the scanner captures multiple books, comics or manga from one photo, with title, author, cover and ISBN detected automatically. You review the matches, then import, and duplicate titles are caught during scan review. For a single book there is a barcode and ISBN scan. Series tracking shows instantly which volume of your series is missing, and you can note who borrowed which book. Librisync works with English, German and international titles. We think this is the real difference: Bubble goes deep on albums, while Librisync aims at the whole shelf.

When a Bubble comics app alternative makes sense

If your collection is almost all French BD, comics and manga, you want release dates, and you like reserving albums at your local bookshop, Bubble covers that well, and for free up to 500 albums. Release calendars and bookshop reservations are Bubble's ground; they are not among Librisync's listed features. A Bubble comics app alternative becomes interesting when albums are only part of your books, or when your collection reaches beyond the French catalogue. Librisync is free up to 100 books, no credit card needed. For larger collections, LibriSync Pro is available from €2.99 a month, €24.99 a year, or €49.99 for lifetime access. Bubble lets everyone export their data; importing a file is not among Librisync's listed features, so plan a fresh scan, not a transfer.

    What to look for

    What stands on your shelves

If nearly everything is BD, comics and manga, a specialist like Bubble fits naturally. If albums share the shelves with novels, essays and cookbooks, one catalog for all of them spares you a second list in your head.

    How big the collection is

Bubble's free plan covers 500 albums, Librisync's 100 books. Beyond that, Bubble Infinity starts at €1.99 a month as of October 2026, while LibriSync Pro starts at €2.99 a month or €24.99 a year for unlimited books.

    Release dates and buying

Bubble's free plan includes a release calendar and notifications, and you can order albums or reserve them at a partner bookshop. If that is how you buy your comics, it counts for a lot.

    How books get in

Bubble adds albums by barcode and by whole series. Librisync adds single books by barcode or ISBN, and several at once from a shelf photo, as long as the cover or spine is visible.

A test evening with one mixed shelf

Keep Bubble as it is; nothing has to be decided tonight. Pick one shelf where albums and other books stand together, ideally fewer than 100 titles. Photograph it, review the matches, then import. Then compare with what you know: does series tracking show the volume you are sure is missing, and did the novels on that shelf come through as well as the albums? If a friend has one of your books, note the loan. After that evening you will know whether a whole-shelf catalog suits you or whether Bubble already covers what you need.
